DRIVE - Episode.01

One of my absolute favorite topics is creativity and the ideas surronding it.

And so it was that Paul Bedford came over to my place the other night to work on his secret comics project. After having a pizza, and working on comics, it was time to get busy with Paul... but I was having my period, so we had to be content with just talking.

Here's what went down when I turned on the mic:

DRIVE - Episode.01
Tea sipping - Why do comics? - What protagonists annoy Bobby - What kind of writing Paul and Bobby enjoy - Game of Thrones vs 24 - The line between comics and film/screen writing - The pointless 'Graphic Novel' debate - Why publish? - Standing behind one's work - Bobby compliments Paul (and the podcast gets its name) - Bobby hates the modern anti-hero.

Non Canonical episode 100!

This past Saturday, I had a blast at the recording of NonCanonical's 100th. It was done live at Melbourne's AllStar Comics store. As expected, it was absolutely awesome. Click here and choose episode 100 in their archive.

I decided to get there a little early so I might take a few 'pre' show snaps, and ran past a cool little art market.

Anyway... just as I got to All Star Comics, some of the guys were heading out to a nearby foodcourt, so I tagged along.

As they started to tuck into their cuisine... I decided to head back to the store and settle in before it got too full.

Everything was in place for a great show...

Many of the regulars we sitting in the back of the store yakking away.

Attention everyone...!

... we're testing the mics.

Tristan Jones looking gobsmacked at Katie's artwork on the wall... and Katie Houghton-Ward day-dreaming of a beer.

Let the show begin!

(Belated) - Feb.2012 comics meetup...

Colin Wilson mentioned to me ( at last weekend's Big Arse #2 launch) that I hadn't shown the photos from last month's comics meetup here on the blog... and he's right. So, enjoy...

[04.02.2012] - 2.30pm: As usual, many people turned up ahead of time.

Before walking into the Feb meetup last month, I noticed a beautiful 60's Mustang parked just outside the pub and I just KNEW it had to be Colin Wilson's. He'd mentioned to me (months ago) that he had realised a life-long dream, said fuck it, and bought himself the musclecar he'd always wanted. I'll let the following photos speak for themselves...

===

Ok... so back to the comics meetup...

Frank Candiloro

Daniel Reed

Jason Franks and I look on in envy...

... as Colin Wilson leaves in his iron chariot.

The next photo was of a cloud of smoke engulfing the street and Colin's fist out of the driver's window... wish I could show it to you, but the photo turned out blurry. Sorry.

So, anyway...

The full moon that evening when I pulled into my driveway.
